Vacation Recap

Some of these pictures are on my facebook page so some of you may have already seen them.
We started out our trip driving through southern Ohio. We decided to stop at the Bob Evans farm. It was not that thrilling, but we got gas and the girls got a potty break. Here's Evie at the farm.
We rocked on the front porch.

Inside the house was a museum of the history of Bob Evans' and his restaraunts. This is a model of the first one. Makes a person hungry for some biscuts and gravy.
We stopped in Charleston WV for the night and then drove the rest of the way to The Outer Banks, NC. We stayed in a house north of Duck. It was giantic and a ton of fun (and a ton of stairs).

Evie and Annalise are eagar to get vacation started.

Evie and June play so nicely together.

We visited Currituck lighthouse in Corrolla, NC. Annalise and I were trying to hold it in our hands. Annalise was really into Posing on this vacation.

You could also climb to the top. The whole Taller family went up despite the code breaking spacing between the raillings. No one fell through though.

We spiraled all the way up and then back down.

Here we are at the top. Evie is mad because we pulled her away from putting her head through the railings.

Grandpa and Aunt Becky were a little freaked out by the height.

the view from the top.

back on the ground, the Turners and Tallers posed for another picture.

There was also a nature center. annalise wasn't at all afraid of the bear.

there were some tense moments during vacation too. This one resulted in a serious time out and the threat of no ice cream, a major punishment on vacation.

Things improved for a photo op in a huge tree.

Another day, we went to the Aquarium . Outside, they had a place where you could dig for fossils. Evie was really good at finding the fish teeth.

We had Tessa with us that day. She didn't make too much trouble.

More fossil hunting at the Ronanoke historical site. It took me forever to find one shark tooth, but aunt Becky and Evie were really good at it.

And we had some fun at the pool at our beach house. The water was a little cold, but that didn't stop the kids from getting thrown around.

Annalise had a good time in the air too.

Oliver was sick for the beginning of vacation, but started feeling better towards the end. Here he is feeding Grandpa and Aunt Becky Twizzlers in the pool. That's the life.

We also spent time at the beach. Annalise DID NOT like the water and prefered to stay near the beach chairs.

Evie and Natalie had a great time playing in the waves.

Grumpy Mc No Waves stayed put until Grandma took her back to the house.

Jim and Evie played in the waves on the last day. The air temp was finally warm enough for us to play in the water and not totally freeze when we got out. The water temp was around 64 all week. Refreshing.

Annalise and another pose.

Tessa played with Grandpa for a while on the beach.

And Uncle Kevin broke out the boogie boards. it was a lot of fun once we all got the hang of it, but not something to do in a two piece swimsuit. Good thing the beach wasn't too crowded.

Uncle Kevin rides in the waves like a pro.
Then on Saturday we began the long ride home. Made longer by the fact that Annalise and I had caught Oliver's and Henry's cold. We stopped in WV for the night and then drove across KY on Sunday. It was great to be home because we were all worn out. On Sunday night, Annalise asked to go to bed at 6:15. That's the sign of a successful vacation.
