Mini Marathon
The Seiberts were in town for a reason other than Bouncer Town. Uncle Kevin and Jim ran the Indy 500 Festival Mini Marathon (13.1miles) on Saturday. Here's their picture:
Well, a picture of them and 35000 of their closest friends. Kevin started near the front based off his previous race times. Jim didn't have any official times to submit when he registered so he was stuck 3 blocks behind Kevin and it took him 30 minutes just to cross the start line. It was pretty frustrating for Jim at the beginning since he had to run around a lot of walkers that were holding hands, singing songs, and wearing track suits. The worst was at mile 2 when he finally past a lady that was doing it on crutches, firemen in full gear, and policemen in SWAT gear. They did finish without injury within their hopeful times. Kevin finished his personal best in a half marathon and Jim came in well under his goal of 2 hours. Yeah Dads.
They rode downtown with some of our neighbors. Heather was awfully excited to be up so early. I really wanted to post this picture so you could see the horrible weather. it never rained, but was cold and 25 Mph winds for the whole race. Yuck. Elizabeth and I stayed in our jammies all morning with the kids.
It started to get a little squirrely around here before the runners returned home so we sent them all outside.
They did make it back and brought Longs Donuts with them! That's a pretty big donut for a guy who just ran so long.
After everyone got cleaned and rested, we had a victory party at our neighbors house. It was a great day!
