Fourth of July
Our Fourth of July started out gray and they got progressly more rainy. We decided to brave the weather and join our neighbors for the annual CarmelFest parade. We found a spot to park our chairs and waited for the parade to start. We knew it started when the F16's flew over. In terms of flyovers, it wasn't the best one because it wasn't accompanied by the national anthem at a racetrack or football game. It was ok, I guess.

The sprinkles stopped for most of the parade. It was, at best, 70 degrees with a lot of clouds. This didn't deter the band parents from spritzing water on the back of trombone players and squirting water into the mouths of the drummers along the entire mile parade route. Today's band youth are weak. (Cue the old timey music) I remember back in 1989 when I had to march the Bryan Jubliee parade when it was 100 degrees. We wore BLACK knee socks and no one squirted water in my mouth or spritzed my neck. As a result, I had heat stroke and lived. So toughen up high school bands!!!
Anyway, back to the parade fun. This entry exhibits two things Indiana people love. Corvettes and the Indy 500 princesses.

There were also Civil war solders who shot off muskets during the parade. Sounded a little too much like fireworks for Annalise. By the way, one guy walked the parade barefoot and without his mom squirting him with water. Talk about an accurate portrial.
The rain continued all day. The girls amused themselves for a while, and then we all went outside in the rain to scrub a year's worth of filth from the deck. It was fun for a while, until Annalise got cold and started to whine. Later, after we put her into bed, we found her sleeping in our bed. I think she's been hanging out with Oliver too much.

Cute pictures of the girls. Fun to see them growing up. Amen about bands! There was no water or relief during our parade routes either! Weakness!
Happy 4th.

Fun to see your girls growing up! Amen about the bands! We never received any relief from the heat when I was in band either...and at only 70 degrees. What have high schoolers become? Sigh :)
Happy 4th of July
