Mom's running out of Christmas Cheer

Maybe it's a case of the Mondays. Maybe it's because we have been stuck inside for a while now. Maybe it's just because I haven't had my daily dose of Karen Carpenter and Kenny and Dolly Christmas Tunes. Whatever it is, I am in a slump. What I would like to do is sit in the basement with a beer and watch some basketball, but I promised the kids 24 days of Advent fun. So this was our effort today. While I was dealing with a case of food posioning yesterday, Jim and the girls made sugar cookies. In my "mommy and me" memory making moment, Annalise and I decorated them today. She choose the frosting color and was in charge of the sprinkling. It was ok until she hit the sprinkle jar into the frosting and then licked the frosting off. Gross.
Here is a shot of her very thorough job.

She also did a lot of licking and wouldn't you know it, that green and red sugar stains your fingers and lips!

And she ate all the leftover sprinkles on the cookie sheet.

Evie's super fun Advent activity involved making "soup to share" for the girls' teachers this week. They made special labels and carefully layered the ingredients into the jars.
Surprisingly, it went well. Evie only tried to wrestle every single thing out of my hand. Next year, she can do it on her own.

Annalise gets ahold of the funnel after the jars are filled.

Evie and the finished product. They turned out pretty. Now I have to get to the basement (with my beer) to crochet some washcloths to go with these beautiful gifts.

Annalise still goofing around with the funnel. Jim finally took it from her when she started spraying us with spit.
