Halloween Fun

Halloween was full of fun at our house. The girls woke up earlier than Christmas morning becuase they wanted to wake up Grandma and Grandpa Seibert who came in for the weekend. It was a busy day for Grandma and Grandpa. We think we wore them out.First, we carved our jack-o-lanterns. yes, we waited this long because Jim was out of town and we didn't even buy the pumpkins until Halloween day! It's a good thing that the manager at Meijer took pity on us and sold us the displays.
Annalise used her spoon to pull out one seed at a time while Jim did the hard work of getting the rest of the gunk.

Evie and Grandma worked on the other one.

Grandma did most of the work over there too. Evie did the drawing of the faces.

Look at that orange smile! She should brush her teeth!

Annalise was pretty happy to finally be carving pumpkins. She has been asking all week.

Jim sat on the floor cross legged for too long. His feet fell asleep.

All the pumpkin artists with their work. We couldn't carve the warty one because it's skin was just too thick. We may have to take the ax to it before it goes in the compost bin.

After the pumpkins were completed, we headed down to the pool in our neighborhood to line up for our annual Halloween Parade. We got to see everyone in costume!

The pumper truck from our local firestation leads the parade. They run the lights and sirens. The people who live in the neighborhood come out and wave to us. And the best part is the parade goes right past our house!

Evie wanted to be in the front row with her friends.

Annalise was content to hold her BFF's hand because there was a guy in a full gorilla suit that scared the bejesus out of her.

Grandma claimed she dressed as a Marshmellow for Halloween.

My costume was Cinderella. See, I lost my Croc. Some of you may remember this dress from our wedding--it's Becky's and I don't know why I still have it. I guess if I have it this long, I have to hang on to it.
And then the hour came to trick or treat!

The girls went up to the door while dad watched from the sidewalk. They both collected a lot of candy which is steadily disappearing. Jim's Uncle Bill introduced to us concept of "Dad Tax" a few years ago. We use it quite liberally this time of year.

After trick or treating, we went to a party. They had games and one was dunking for apples. Evie went in several times and got soaked. After that, she asked to go home and go to bed because she was tired. It was a great Halloween!

We spent a good part of Sunday bumming around outside. Evie has a new activity when she and Jim are in the garage. She is organizing his tools for him. Metric, Standard, and all the sockets are in order for the first time since we moved. She still has one drawer to to. That should keep her busy for at least one more weekend.

The girls had lots of fun with Grandma and Grandpa. Thanks for coming!

Grandpa and Grandma are pretty goofy.
